Home › Countries — Tibetan Events Around the World › Tibetan Events in Europe
Europe is home to one of the largest and longest-established Tibetan diasporas outside Asia. Switzerland, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Spain and the Nordic countries each have their own page on this site. This page covers everywhere else — Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Iceland and beyond — where Tibetan communities and Tibetan Buddhist centres are smaller but no less active.
Many of these communities grew up around dharma centres and Tibet support groups rather than around large refugee settlements. They tend to be tight-knit, run by volunteers, and easy to overlook from outside. This page is where their events belong.
Across central and eastern Europe, Tibetan Buddhist centres have been part of the religious landscape for decades, hosting teachings, retreats and visits by senior lamas. In southern Europe and Ireland, smaller sanghas and cultural associations gather for Losar, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday and the 10 March commemoration of the Tibetan National Uprising.
These calendars are often announced only within local networks. Collecting them here makes them visible to Tibetans and friends of Tibet travelling or living anywhere on the continent.
From a teaching in Warsaw to a Losar gathering in Lisbon or a 10 March march in Dublin, this page brings together Tibetan events across the rest of Europe in one calendar. If your community’s event isn’t listed, please submit it — this page grows with the communities it serves.
