TIBETAN ART EXHIBITION

Tibetan Art Exhibition

Celebrate the Dalai Lama’s 91st Birthday with Tibetan Artist Ngoshi Choedon

Join us for a special exhibition celebrating the 91st birthday of the Dalai Lama, featuring the work of Tibetan artist Ngoshi Choedon, who will be present in person. Born in Tibet and living in India, Ngoshi creates intricate paper collages and works with traditional Tibetan garments to explore themes of identity, memory and cultural heritage. Drawing from the experience of exile and life in the Tibetan diaspora, her work tells powerful stories about preserving culture and carrying traditions across generations.

The exhibition also includes selected works by Dutch artist Peter George d’Angelino Tap, whose paintings and sculptural work explore clothing and fashion as changing reflections of culture, history and movement.

Together, the exhibition creates an interesting dialogue between personal stories, tradition and cultural change. A unique opportunity to meet a Tibetan artist and experience contemporary Tibetan art and culture up close.

Alongside the exhibition, several special events will take place:

26 June | 18:00 – Opening Reception
Join us for the festive opening with snacks and drinks. Both artists will be present and introduce their work, together with the organizers. There will be plenty of room for conversation, exchange and enjoying the exhibition together.

4 July | 14:00–16:00 – Self-Exploration Through Collage Workshop with Ngoshi Choedon
In this hands-on workshop, participants are invited to explore identity through collage. Using images, textures and colors from magazines and paper materials, participants create a personal self-portrait based not on appearance but on feelings, experiences and aspirations. No artistic experience is needed, only curiosity and creativity. The workshop offers a welcoming space for reflection and self-expression.

8 July | 16:30–18:00 – Special Talk with Wangpo Tethong
Join a special get-together with ICT Executive Director Wangpo Tethong, who will speak about His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the close relationship between their families. Wangpo was among the first Tibetans born in Europe. His father was sent to Switzerland by the Dalai Lama to care for Tibetan children there, creating a lifelong connection with His Holiness. Wangpo remained in close contact with the Dalai Lama throughout his life and even accompanied him as part of a film crew in the mid-1990s while co-producing a documentary. An evening of personal stories and unique insights into Tibetan history and community.

This exhibition was also made possible by Stroom Den Haag and realized in cooperation with the NGO DEI.
